Caring for Your Coated Parts
Powder coating is more durable than standard paint, but the right care keeps it looking new for years. A few simple habits go a long way.
Regular Cleaning
Wash coated parts with mild soap and water using a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel to avoid water spots. For wheels, regular cleaning also helps prevent brake dust and road grime from building up and etching into the surface over time.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Skip abrasive cleaners, solvents, and strong degreasers on coated surfaces. These can dull the finish or break down the coating over time. If you're unsure whether a cleaning product is safe, test it on a small, hidden area first.
Watch for Brake Dust and Road Salt
Brake dust and road salt are two of the biggest threats to coated wheels and suspension parts. Both are acidic and can etch into the finish if left too long. Rinse these off as soon as practical, especially after winter driving or track use.
Address Chips and Scratches Early
If a part gets chipped or scratched down to bare metal, the exposed metal can corrode underneath the coating. Keep an eye on high-contact areas and reach out if you notice damage, especially on parts still under warranty.
Avoid Prolonged Harsh Exposure
Where possible, avoid leaving coated parts in prolonged contact with standing water, road salt, or harsh chemicals. Regular use is expected and the coating is built for it, but reducing unnecessary exposure extends the life of the finish.
